The motivating letter that a nine-year-old boy sends to NASA to apply for a job

“Dear NASA: my name is Jack Davis and I would like to present my candidacy for the position of Planetary Protection Officer”, Thus begins the letter that a nine-year-old student, a fourth-year student of a school in New Jersey (United States), sent to NASA in response to a job offer published on the American Government's job website.

What this kid probably didn't expect was that your letter went viral and was answered by the Director of Planetary Sciences and the Director of Planetary Research of NASA, who were fascinated with the interest and motivation of the child.

Planetary Protection Officer

The job of "Planetary Protection Officer" at NASA, was published a few days ago on a website of the American Government, generating great interest among Internet users and capturing the attention of little nine-year-old Jack Davis.

For this work, consisting of protecting the solar system and preventing microbial contamination of other planets and our own, between 105,000 and 158,000 euros of salary were offered annually, but what really motivated Jack - who proclaims himself as Guardian of the Galaxy - is learn to think like an alien.

Dear NASA,

My name is Jack Davis and I would like to present my candidacy for the position of Planetary Protection Officer. I'm only nine years old, but I think I would be fit for the job. One of the reasons to believe it is that my sister says that I am like an alien.

I have also seen almost all the films of space and aliens that I can see. I have seen the Marvel saga and want to see the Men in Black movies. Also, I'm very good at playing video games. I am young, but I can learn to think like an alien.

Sincerely, Jack Davis, Guardian of the Fourth Course Galaxy

The letter of the little one moved so much that the same Director of Planetary Sciences of NASA, James Green, decided to respond with another letter:

Dear Jack,

I have heard that you are a Guardian of the Galaxy and that you are interested in being a NASA Planetary Protection Officer. That's great! The position of planetary protection officer is really fabulous and is a very important job. It's about protecting the Earth from the tiny microbes we bring with the samples of the moon, asteroids and Mars.

It also involves protecting other planets and the moon from our own germs, and exploring the solar system responsibly. We are always looking for bright future scientists and engineers to help us, so I hope you study hard at school to get it. We hope to see you soon at NASA!

Sincerely, James Green, Director of Planetary Sciences

From the NASA website, Green said that love teaching children about space and inspiring them to be the next generation of explorers. Therefore, the Director of Planetary Research, Jonathan Rall, decided to telephone the child and congratulate him personally for his interest in the position.

Wanting is power, so we are sure that the motivation, enthusiasm and desire to overcome little Jack will make him reach higher than the stars!
