Probiotics can relieve infant colic

Pediatrics magazine published a study last January in which they found that probiotic products were able to relieve infant colic.

Probiotics are those food products in which there are bacteria that help strengthen our immune system, these bacteria can also survive digestion by getting alive to the colon and helping to restore intestinal flora that may have been altered by some cause.

The study was conducted on 90 infants who fed only breastfeeding, suffered colic. Half of these infants followed the probiotic treatment and the rest were given a medication for the annoying gases (simethicone). The conclusion of the study revealed that 95% of children who were given probiotic bacteria, in just one week improved in terms of colic symptoms, the characteristic crying of babies was markedly reduced.

According to the authors of the study, what prevents these discomforts are probiotic bacteria, which could have an anti-inflammatory effect on the gastric mucosa.

Although it is still necessary to expand the study, this could be a good start to alleviate an evil that most babies suffer in their first months of life and that makes our parents suffer so much, because of the impotence of seeing them suffer and not being able to Relieve your discomfort.
