My son loves to make soap bubbles. Or rather, he is obsessed with the pompero. And this is not new because there are Flemish paintings of XVII century They show children blowing with clay tubes and in 1940 the Chicago Chemtoy company started selling liquid for bubbles.

And perhaps this is the most successful toy in history because some are sold annually 200 million boats.

We have already bought 5, which cost 0.75 euros here, but it is about learning to fill them with the right liquid because otherwise the issue is not very sustainable.

We have tried multiple times to fill it with dishwashing soap, but it is not as perfect as the original liquid. And finally we have found the solution: baby shampoo because it is thicker and the perfect bubbles come out.

Other tricks for thicken the water What we have not tried are: pharmacy glycerin or sugar previously dissolved in hot water and leave the soap mixture in an open container overnight.

They say that it is also more appropriate to use distilled water because tap water contains calcium ions that bind with soap.

As for the exact doses, we have done it quite by eye but down in the link you have several example formulas.

And the last recommendation is to make the hundreds of bubbles to fresh air because otherwise the house floor is stained. But these are the side effects of the fun and joy of our children.
