The importance of a good breakfast in childhood

When we talk about the nutrition of the little ones, we must highlight the importance of a good breakfast in childhood.

Breakfast is the first meal they eat after fasting all night, which will allow them to face the day full of energy.

This first meal should be made up of milk, cereals, fruit (in pieces or in juice), carbohydrates and some protein such as ham or other types of cold cuts.

According to nutritionists, the energy contribution of breakfast should cover between 30 and 35 percent of nutritional needs of the school-age child.

A good breakfast is necessary to start the day with energy by reactivating brain functions, which is not a little given the amount of hours children spend in school.

It also reduces the state of anxiety, makes children sick less and develops a more positive attitude. It seems exaggerated but not having breakfast can have consequences on the personality of the child when they reach adolescence, they point out that it could cause aggressive states as the child grows older.

But it is also a good habit to acquire since childhood, since without breakfast there is a nutritional imbalance. If this nutrient deficit is supplemented in the middle of the morning by unhealthy foods such as pastries, fats or sugars in full growth stage, the feared childhood obesity is being promoted.

Sometimes underestimated the importance of a good breakfast in childhood. Not having breakfast properly causes fatigue in children, difficulty concentrating and lack of memory.

So, although sometimes lacks time to sit down for breakfast, it is worth re-arranging the schedules to enjoy this first meal, the most important of the day, and if possible as a family.
