A magical place to get lost in the Sierra Oeste of Madrid: 'the Enchanted Forest'

In San Martín de Valdeiglesias (Sierra Oeste de Madrid) there is a magical place to get lost and realize the adventurous dreams of the whole family. In 'The enchanted forest' winged dragons live with cute giraffes, and you have little sheep with huge dinosaurs.

If I tell you that Snow White can live with warriors and with the soldier firing a cannon, would you believe me? You can check it yourself by visiting this place, but do not stay in front of the computer looking at the photographs, because it is really worth spending a Sunday morning in this forest. But what is the Enchanted Forest really? It is a botanical garden with unique characteristics in Europe. There we can admire more than 300 plant sculptures made by the best artists of topiary art. Also in this place we will find more than 500 species from all over the world.

The musicians, the steam locomotive, the hippo and the kings will make us happy, but still there are more reasons to visit the Enchanted Forest, and they all give us plenty of reasons for the visit. The possibility of finding the lost tranquility while we walk with the children with the trails, the intrigue of knowing if we will find the exit in the labyrinth, ...

Do you still need more arguments? Ah! Then I should also tell you that there are exhibitions of cacti, aromatic plants and bonsai. And a charming stream of those that we all think exist only in movies or books, which (as if that were not enough) is dropped into one of the few natural waterfalls in the Sierra Oeste, the Barbellido.

On the web you have the information on the schedules according to the season, and as for the tickets adults pay 10 euros, children under 12 years (and people over 65 years) six euros, and there are also special prices for groups and residents in San Martín.

And well, I have to say that this place is also presented as a friendly option that facilitates the stay for visitors: they have a minibus to transfer us from the San Martín bus station, 95% of the place is suitable for transit with baby seats, there is a picnic area, and we can also take our dog (as long as it is tied and not listed as a 'dangerous breed').

It takes two to three hours to explore this special 'forest', although we can spend more time if we wish. Open from Thursday to Sunday, and all holidays.

If you need to get lost with your family for a day in a peaceful and full place is secrets carved in trees, you must come here. And by the way, one of the most emblematic characters is Eduardo Manostijeras, is it that he has been the inspirer of all these carved sculptures?

So that you go 'opening your mouth', I leave you with this video,
