The didactic cycle of the Walter Sax Big Band has already started at the Sanpol Theater in Madrid

It has already started didactic cycle of the Walter Sax Big Band at the Sanpol Theater in Madrid. And we have seen the Big Band is composed of more than 20 musicians and led by Walter while they presented us the birth of a big band. It is a most entertaining story in which from the loneliness of his room Walter was showing us how union and collaboration with other saxophonists allows us to achieve a prodigious sound with the Big Band.

And seeing the Big Band in action is a pleasure, the acoustics of the SanPol Theater accompanies and the band sounds like a clock. In addition, we were delighted to see all the musicians in action, although the solos of the saxophonist Costanzo Coco Laini and one of the best drummers in Spain, Pepe Acebal, were vibrant and left the entire audience breathless. All musicians had their role and also shone Gabriel Palacios (Alto Sax), Daniel Cardoso (Soprano Sax), Julio Mendéz (Tenor Sax) and Luis Zamorano (piano). On this occasion the voices of Ana Momplet and Aurora Mayo were brief, Fever only sang in a vibrant performance. Y will show much more on April 20 in the second program of the cycle.

I especially recommend the program for the whole family and also for music students with restless teachers because the stage and the seats are filled with genuine music, with versions like Henry Mancini's standard of the Pink Panther or the also famous Easy winners by Scott Joplin popularized in the movie The Coup. Although the final moment of authentic funky with The chicken Jaco Pastorius was spectacular.

The children remained very attentive to what was happening on the stage, the rhythm of the show was adequate to maintain the tension between the audience and the deployment of the band was spectacular. The 20 musicians fill the stage and they form a perfectly synchronized combination that encouraged children to clap their hands and keep up with their bodies the rhythm of the music.

We remind you of the program that is divided into four parts and of which we have already seen the first one:

  • The birth of a big band, April 6 (already done)
  • The repertoire of a big band, April 20
  • The rehearsals of a big band, May 11
  • The big band in concert, May 25
