Spain is the eighth country in the European Union with the highest child poverty rate

In 2010 the child poverty rate grew three points (up to 29.8 percent), although according to Educo's report, it was from 2007 that sand began to notice that the rates of families with children at risk of poverty increased.

Save the Children has just presented a study that alerts about 33.8 percent of the child population (data are from Eurostat) living at risk of poverty or social exclusion. Let's open our eyes! This makes us the eighth country in the European Union with a higher rate of deprivation among minors.

The report is called "2,826,549 Reasons", and comes accompanied by the campaign "And me, who rescues me" that has begun its journey sounding very strong in the Social Networks of the Internet

The European Union asked a few days ago more funds to fight child poverty in our country. We are in a situation similar to Greece, Ireland, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary or Latvia. Despite the National Action Plan for social inclusion, or the extraordinary fund of 17 million euros announced by the Government, the situation of thousands and thousands of families remains critical.

Save the Children has asked our rulers a rigorous diagnosis of the situation of child poverty in Spain, as well as strategies and resources, which, together with a Family Support Plan, allows many families to cope with this structural situation of economic crisis with dignity.

"It should be in public budgets, where the political commitment to address the situation of children in a country was reflected".

Clearly it is clear that so far insufficient initiatives have been taken, and that the state is not guaranteeing the rights of our childhood at all; the most basic rights I mean, I am not talking about the one who enables children to participate, but to enjoy goods necessary for healthy development.

Is there still someone who has not noticed ?, because I think we all have around us families who breathe relieved when they are granted the dining scholarship, and children who feel ashamed when they lack school supplies.

What can be expected when prices go up incessantly, minimum wages freeze and there are still endless nonsense? Of course, it seems to be a priority for citizens to buy works of art, given the drop in VAT applied to them.

"And to me, who rescues me?" Is a campaign by the creative Jorge Martínez, combines social reporting and fund raising; and it has 2,826,549 microsites with drawings representing each of the children who are at risk of poverty or social exclusion in Spain.
